Wally Wood (June 17, 1927 – November 2, 1981) was an American comic book artist, writer, and independent publisher widely regarded as one of the greatest draftsmen in the history of the medium. Born in Menahga, Minnesota, Wood is best known for his work on EC Comics titles like Weird Science and MAD Magazine, as well as for establishing Daredevil's distinctive red costume during an influential run at Marvel. He later created T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents and his own long-running characters Sally Forth and Cannon. Wood's mastery of light, shadow, and science fiction imagery was profoundly influential on generations of artists. He was posthumously inducted into both the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame and the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame.
