Tiah Ankum is a Black comic book artist born in the Midwest, raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and currently based in southern Alabama. She attended a magnet high school where she majored in music and minored in art, then enrolled at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in 2017 before continuing as a largely self-taught artist. Her influences include comic books, manga, video games, and music. In 2017 she and her twin sister Tahilla Ankum founded the SiameseFros, a creative artistic partnership. In 2022 Tiah was selected as one of 24 emerging Black and diverse comic book creators — chosen from hundreds of applicants — for the inaugural class of DC Comics' Milestone Initiative Talent Development Program. The 10-week immersive program was mentored by Milestone co-founder Denys Cowan and Emmy Award-winning producer Reggie Hudlin, and included training through the Kubert School and in-person sessions at DC's offices in Burbank. Her work as part of the program was published in New Talent Showcase: The Milestone Initiative #1 (DC Comics, 2023), with a signing at Infinite Realities Comics in Tucker, Georgia. Writer Greg Burnham, her Milestone Initiative collaborator, subsequently recommended her to creator JC Carter, leading to her work as series penciller on Shaolin Nun #4 (2023), a Kickstarter-funded indie series. Tiah also contributed art and colors to Fumes — a dystopian cli-fi comic written by M'Shai Dash, which successfully funded on Kickstarter in 2025 — alongside her twin sister Tahilla.
