Rich Buckler (February 6, 1949 – May 19, 2017) was an American comic book artist best known for his work on Marvel's Fantastic Four in the mid-1970s and for creating the cyborg antihero Deathlok. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Buckler emerged from the first wave of comics fandom and went on to draw virtually every major character at both Marvel and DC. His two-year run on Fantastic Four bridged the Kirby and Pérez eras, and during that time he hired the young George Pérez as his studio assistant — a mentorship that helped launch one of the industry's great careers. He also co-created DC's All-Star Squadron with Roy Thomas.
