Ramone Edmundson is the founder and co-owner of Prideland Comics & Collectibles in Speedway, Indiana, which he believes is Indianapolis's only Black-owned comic book shop. By day, Edmundson serves as an assistant principal at Daniel Webster School 46 in West Indianapolis, bringing to both roles a commitment to expanding children's vocabularies, horizons, and sense of possibility through storytelling.
Edmundson began building Prideland by selling comics and collectibles online on eBay, then through booths at flea markets and local conventions including Indiana Comic Con and PopCon Indy. He established a semi-permanent store at Washington Square Mall in 2017 before relocating to Speedway. His son Damani helps run the store, making Prideland a family operation dedicated to bringing comics to Indianapolis's west side community.
