- Writer
Peter David (September 23, 1956 – May 24, 2025) was one of the most prolific and beloved writers in the history of American comics, with a career spanning nearly four decades and encompassing hundreds of titles. His 130-issue run on The Incredible Hulk from 1987 to 1998 is widely considered the definitive treatment of the character, transforming Bruce Banner into one of the most psychologically complex figures in Marvel's universe. His work on X-Factor introduced the detective-noir superhero team, his Supergirl run reimagined that character with depth and humor, and his many creator-owned projects demonstrated a versatility that few writers in the mainstream industry matched. David also wrote extensively for Star Trek in both comics and novel form, and was a prolific blogger and public voice on creator rights issues. He suffered a debilitating stroke in 2012 and continued working through declining health until his death.
