Meg-John Barker (born June 23, 1974, Hull, England) is a British writer, independent scholar, creative consultant, and former academic psychologist who uses they/them pronouns. They are a leading international expert on gender, sexual, and relationship diversity, and are the author of numerous popular books on sex, gender, and relationships.
In comics, Barker co-created Queer: A Graphic History (Icon Books, 2016, illustrated by Jules Scheele) — a groundbreaking non-fiction graphic novel illuminating the history of queer thought and LGBTQ+ activism — and Gender: A Graphic Guide (Icon Books, 2019, also illustrated by Scheele). Barker has also published comics, zines, and podcasts through their platform Rewriting the Rules. They co-founded the journal Psychology & Sexuality, led the activist-research organisation BiUK, and wrote The Bisexuality Report, which has informed UK policy on bisexuality. They appeared in The Independent's Pink List and Rainbow List for their contributions to LGBTQ+ rights.
