Matt Baker (born Clarence Matthew Baker, December 10, 1921 – August 11, 1959) was one of the first successful Black comic book artists, active during the Golden Age of Comics. He is best known for drawing Phantom Lady and for co-creating what is considered one of the first graphic novels, It Rhymes with Lust (1950). Baker's identity as a gay man was confirmed by his close friends Frank Giusto and Lee J. Ames. He was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2009.
