Joe Orlando (April 4, 1927 – December 23, 1998) was an Italian-American illustrator, editor, and cartoonist whose career spanned six decades at EC Comics and DC Comics. Born in Bari, Italy, and raised in New York, Orlando was a key EC Comics artist in the early 1950s before joining DC, where he edited the legendary Bronze Age mystery and horror anthology titles — House of Mystery, House of Secrets, Weird War Tales, and Swamp Thing — that gave the era much of its atmospheric character. He later rose to vice president of DC and associate publisher of Mad magazine. He received the Inkpot Award in 1980 and was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2007.
