Jim Aparo (August 24, 1932 – July 19, 2005) was an American comic book artist best known for his long and definitive run on Batman at DC Comics. Born in New Britain, Connecticut, Aparo was one of the few artists of his era to serve simultaneously as penciler, inker, and letterer on his own work. Discovered by Dick Giordano at Charlton Comics, he followed Giordano to DC, where he became the signature Batman artist across Detective Comics, The Brave and the Bold, and numerous Batman titles from the late 1960s through the 1990s. He drew the iconic 'Death in the Family' storyline in which Jason Todd was killed. He was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2019.
