Howard Mackie is an American comic book editor and writer who spent most of his career at Marvel Comics and is best known as the co-creator of the Danny Ketch version of Ghost Rider. Born January 22, 1958, he grew up in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn. He started at Marvel in 1984 as an assistant editor under Mark Gruenwald, and was promoted to Managing Editor of Special Projects in early 1987, overseeing Marvel's New Universe line. He made his name as a writer in 1990 when he and artist Javier Saltares launched a new Ghost Rider series introducing Danny Ketch as the host character — a run he maintained through issue #69 in 1996. He went on to write multiple Spider-Man titles through the Clone Saga era, and in January 1999 relaunched both The Amazing Spider-Man and Peter Parker: Spider-Man with new #1 issues. Other major work includes X-Factor (#115–149), Mutant X, and several Gambit, Wolverine, and Rogue miniseries. In 2012 he wrote The Ravagers for DC Comics as part of The New 52.
