George Gant is a Chicago-based cartoonist, illustrator, and comic strip creator whose Beware of Toddler — a warmly funny strip about a stay-at-home dad surviving daily life with a rambunctious toddler — became one of the most widely read Black-created daily comic strips in America. The strip originated in 2019 from a single game of hide-and-seek with his two-year-old daughter, and has since been syndicated by King Features on Comics Kingdom, won three Glyph Comics Awards, earned sixteen total Glyph nominations, and been nominated for a Ringo Award and a Webtoon Canvas Award. In 2020, Gant became the first Black American contributor to The Beano — the world's oldest children's comic magazine, published in the UK since 1938 — as the artist for the comic strips Angel Face Investigates and Rubi's Screwtop Science. He is also the creator of the webcomics The Reset Button and On the Grind, and earlier in his career drew editorial cartoons for his high school newspaper that won several city-wide awards. His first Beware of Toddler collection, Toddlerhood!, was published in 2022. He is also the illustrator of the graphic novel Muddy Waters Too, based on the album released by the legendary hip-hop musician Redman, which was released in 2025.
