Dick Ayers (April 28, 1924 – May 4, 2014) was an American comic book artist best known as one of Jack Kirby's primary inkers during the Silver Age of Comics and as the signature penciler of Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos for a ten-year run. Born in Ossining, New York, Ayers was a prolific contributor to Marvel from the late 1950s through the 1970s, inking Kirby on the earliest Fantastic Four issues and contributing to nearly every major Marvel title of the era. He also co-created the original western Ghost Rider character in the early 1950s. He was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2007.
