David F. Walker is an Eisner Award-winning comic book writer, filmmaker, journalist, and educator based in Portland, Oregon. He is the co-creator of the critically acclaimed series Bitter Root (Image Comics) with Chuck Brown and Sanford Greene, and co-creator of Naomi (DC Comics). His extensive comics credits include Power Man & Iron Fist, Nighthawk, Cyborg, and Shaft — the latter winning the 2015 Glyph Award for Story of the Year. His graphic novel The Black Panther Party: A Graphic Novel History won the 2022 Eisner Award for Best Reality-Based Work. Walker is also the author of the YA novel The Second Chance of Darius Logan (Scholastic, 2024) and founded Solid Comix, his own crowdfunded comics publishing venture. He is an adjunct professor at Portland State University and one of the most respected voices in Black comics.
