Che Grayson

Chelsea 'Che' Grayson is a Black, feminine, and queer filmmaker, TED speaker, and comic book writer based in New York City, who discovered her love of comics while in graduate school at NYU after beginning her creative career in filmmaking. She is best known for her creator-owned comic Rigamo — a queer fantasy story co-created with artist Shauna De La Cruz — and for her work on Bitch Planet: Triple Feature (Image Comics), where she contributed one of three stories. For DC Comics she has written for Batman: Urban Legends (2021–2023), DC Cybernetic Summer, Dark Nights: Death Metal, The Conjuring: The Lover, and Chuck D Presents Apocalypse 91. She wrote The Wild Seed — an adaptation of the Octavia Butler story with artist Jason Brown Alexander. For IDW Publishing she wrote Dark Spaces: Good Deeds (2023). She has also contributed to A Wave Blue World's Dead Beats anthology (2025–present) and the Femme Magnifique anthology. She is the co-writer (with Scott Snyder) and writer of Absolute Catwoman — a six-issue series launched June 10, 2026, with art by Bengal and design by Nick Dragotta, which marks the first spinoff in DC's Absolute Universe line. She is a horror and science fiction enthusiast and has given a TED Talk on superheroes and marginalized voices in genre media. She has also worked with David Walker, LeSean Thomas, and Bitch Planet co-creators Kelly Sue DeConnick and Valentine De Landro.
