Che Grayson (Chelsea "Che" Grayson) is a comic book writer, filmmaker, and TED speaker best known for genre stories in horror and superheroes that center marginalized voices. They have written extensively for DC Comics, including Batman: Urban Legends, Wonder Woman: Black & Gold, DC Horror Presents: The Conjuring: The Lover, Dark Nights: Death Metal, Secrets of Sinister House, and DC Cybernetic Summer. Their creator-owned debut was Rigamo (self-published via Kickstarter, 2016-2017), the story of a young Black girl who resurrects the dead with her tears.
Grayson wrote Dark Spaces: Good Deeds (IDW Publishing), a horror anthology story, and has contributed to publications across Image, Mad Cave Studios, Scout Comics, and others. Their background in film and television — working as a consultant in the entertainment industry for over a decade — translates directly into their comics work, where they bring a writer's room sensibility and strong character foundations to their stories.
They were invited by James Tynion IV to join the "Corpse Crew" writing collective for Exquisite Corpses (Image Comics, 2025), an experimental horror anthology in which multiple writers and artists collaborate on a single shared story. Their contribution appears in issue #4. Their upcoming major project is Absolute Catwoman (DC, 2026+), a 6-issue series co-written with Scott Snyder with art by Bengal.
In 2026, the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards celebrated its most diverse nominee class in the 38-year history of the awards, with a historic number of Black creators nominated across categories. Grayson received a 2026 Eisner nomination for Best New Series as a contributing writer on Exquisite Corpses (Image Comics).
