Carmine Infantino (May 24, 1925 – April 4, 2013) was an American comics artist and editor who shaped DC Comics from the Golden Age through the Silver Age and beyond. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Infantino co-created the Silver Age Flash with editor Julius Schwartz and writer Robert Kanigher — launching the superhero revival that defined the Silver Age. He later co-created Batgirl, Elongated Man, Deadman, and the Barbara Gordon-era Batman 'New Look.' Rising to editorial director and then publisher of DC in the early 1970s, he hired Neal Adams, Denny O'Neil, and Jack Kirby, reshaping the Bronze Age landscape. He was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2000.
