Archie Goodwin (September 8, 1937 – March 1, 1998) was an American comic book writer and editor widely regarded as one of the finest and most beloved editors in the history of the medium. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Goodwin wrote landmark work for Warren Publishing's Creepy and Eerie, co-created Luke Cage for Marvel, adapted the Star Wars film franchise to comics, and set up Marvel's creator-owned Epic Comics imprint. As an editor he was known for his integrity, collaborative spirit, and extraordinary range. He was posthumously inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 1998.
