Summary
Saturday AM is a Black-founded, independent global manga publisher operating under the parent company MyFutprint Entertainment. Founded in 2013 by Frederick L. Jones in Morrisville, North Carolina, Saturday AM bills itself as 'the world's most diverse manga brand' — with a mission to discover, develop, and debut manga-style creators from underrepresented communities around the world, including artists from Nigeria, Ghana, Brazil, Indonesia, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, and more. The company publishes a monthly digital anthology magazine with over 150 issues to date, featuring more than 30 active series. All creators retain full rights to their work. Notable titles include Apple Black (by Nigerian artist Odunze Oguguo/WhytManga), Clock Striker, Hammer, Saigami, Soul Beat, Oblivion Rouge, Orisha, and The Massively Multiplayer World of Ghosts. Saturday AM collects its serialized titles into print graphic novels under the 'TANKS' branding, available at Walmart, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Books-A-Million through a publishing partnership with Quarto Group's Rockport Publishers imprint (announced October 2021). In June 2025 the company partnered with Webtoon to distribute its series in vertical scroll format. A crossover fighting video game, Saturday AM: Battle Manga, is in development by Son Studios. Saturday AM runs several annual community events: Summer of Manga, a competitive one-shot submission pipeline that serves as the company's primary talent discovery engine; March Art Madness, a fan art tournament; and Saturday Con. In 2023 the company launched Wel/Red, a light novel imprint co-founded by Odunze Oguguo and graphic novel author Stephanie Williams. The company also operates a digital reading app (Saturday AM Global Comics) on iOS and Android, and a sister site called Pilot Manga featuring free-to-read webcomics.
