Jasmine Walls

Jasmine Walls (she/her) is a California-based award-winning comic book writer, editor, and artist known for stories that are fun, engaging, and critical of the worlds they are set in. She has former lives in professional baking and teaching martial arts. Her debut graphic novel Brooms, illustrated by Teo DuVall with colors by Bex Glendining and letters by Ariana Maher, is a queer fantasy set in an alternate 1930s Mississippi where magic exists but its use is restricted by unjust laws. Six extraordinary women push back by participating in illegal broom races to earn money for better lives. The book was praised with starred reviews from Publishers Weekly and Booklist, named one of YALSA's Top 10 Great Graphic Novels for Teens 2024, and received the VLA Graphic Novel Diversity Award 2023 and an IGNYTE Award Finalist nomination 2024. She is also the writer of Vixen: NYC — a DC Comics/Webtoon series which as of August 2023 was the longest-running DC comic series starring a Black woman lead — and The Last Session Vol. 1: Roll for Initiative for Oni Press, a D&D-inspired graphic novel co-created with DiceJockey. Additional credits include Beauty and the Beast (Plus Jake) for Levine Querido, MIDST: The Valorous Farmer, and contributions to the Cardboard Kingdom anthology series (Chad Sell/BOOM! Studios). She has also published work through The Atlantic, The Nib, and Capstone. She lives in California with two dogs and a large stash of quality hot chocolate.
