Len Wein (June 12, 1948 – September 10, 2017) was an American comic book writer and editor best known for co-creating Wolverine, Swamp Thing, and the All-New X-Men lineup — including Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, and Thunderbird — that transformed the X-Men into one of the most popular comic franchises in history. Born in the Bronx, Wein co-created Wolverine in Incredible Hulk #181 (1974) with artists Herb Trimpe and John Romita Sr., then launched the revived X-Men in Giant-Size X-Men #1 (1975) with artist Dave Cockrum. He later edited Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' Watchmen at DC Comics. He was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2008.
