Shawnelle Gibbs is one half of the Gibbs Sisters, an Emmy-nominated writing team with her twin sister Shawnee, from Oakland, California. Together they created the indie YA comic series Fashion Forward and the Kickstarter-funded steampunk comic The Invention of E.J. Whitaker. Their debut YA graphic novel Ghost Roast (HarperCollins/Versify, 2023) received a Harvey Award nomination and an NAACP Image Award nomination. They have written for Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. Animation, DreamWorks, Disney Television Animation, and Marvel Comics, and received a Children's and Family Emmy nomination in 2024.
